Praying Mantis

The Praying Mantis gets its name because they have long front legs that they hold in a position that reminds people of praying. Something really cool about the Praying Mantis is their heads can turn 180 degrees, so they can see directly behind them!  They also camouflage to their surroundings very well! They mostly eat crickets, grasshoppers and spiders, but they can take on much larger prey! We watched videos on YouTube of a Praying Mantis attacking a humming bird, fish, and lizards, yes, you read that correctly!
